Important Update: Electrical Work at the Museum

Next week, we'll be carrying our essential electrical work to upgrade the lighting throughout the Museum.

We've planned the work carefully to keep the disruption to a minimum, but there may be times when some areas are not accessible. Please note: the Auditorium will be closed on Wednesday 3rd September.

This project has been funded by the Vale of the White Horse's Climate Action Fund. By switching to new energy-efficient lighting, we'll be reducing our electricity usage by an amazing 79% each year!

Thank you for your patience and support as we make the Museum brighter, greener, and more sustainable for the future.

1066: Oxfordshire and the Norman Conquest - a light-hearted romp

Many of the key events surrounding the Norman invasion of Anglo-Saxon England in 1066 took place in modern Oxfordshire. From the both of a prince to the formal surrender after the Battle of Hastings, Oxfordshire frequently provided the background for the board-room take-over that was the Norman Conquest of England.
