Why volunteer with us?

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills or strengthen your CV.

Who volunteers for us?

We welcome people from all walks of life, no matter how much or how little time people are able to give us.

How much time do I have to give?

Most of our volunteering opportunities are a few hours a week and continue on an ongoing basis, but we have a range of roles and are happy to discuss what suits you best.

What skills or experience do I need?

Everyone brings unique skills and experience to our Museum community. The majority of our volunteer roles do not require specific skills or experience; only a willingness to learn.

What training and support will be given?

The Museum Business & Facilities Manager will help to prepare you to fulfil your role. All volunteers have a staff member who they can go to for help and support. Often there are also more experienced volunteers to offer advice to new members of the team.

Do we offer work experience or internship opportunities?

The Museum does offer work experience and internships. Please see our Student Opportunities page.

“I enjoy being a volunteer at the Vale and Downland Museum as it’s such a friendly, fun and interesting place to be. I have learned so many new things and met lots of lovely people of all ages.”
