Erebus and Aether Exhibition

Erebus and Aether Exhibition

19th July 2019

A collection of contemporary art from ESA.

Esa is concerned with how the human existence is adapting to this technological age. She merges the intelligences of the technology and nature to see what kind of visual language emerges – with the aim to make some sense of our digitally submerged lives.

In the collection Esa photographs wild plants at the end of their life cycle. She uses inks and photographic processes to magnify the plants’ postures and push out the core essence embodied in their final stage of life.

These images provide us with the nature’s knowledge; and unspoken language that connects us to out primitive instincts and to the part that technology can play in bringing us closer to the intelligence and consciousness of the natural world.

Esa uses light and dark to represent the extremes from which we live in. The images start from either ta saturated brightness or from a deep blackness giving technology and opportunity to draw out the core of our true natural world.

This exhibition is the last of a three-part series that looks at the birth through life and onto death. The work is the end point; exploring the instinct to cling to life, while celebrating the beauty and peace found in death.

Free admission, donations welcome.
