We are delighted to be able to invite families to join us for our exciting summer discovery sessions.

Our summer sessions have been carefully designed to be fun and engaging, whilst also developing children's skills and knowledge as young historians.

How did Anglo Saxons brush their hair?

Have you ever wondered how an Anglo Saxon kept themselves looking smart? Or how Georgians kept up with up with their school work? Explore our collection and find out about how daily tasks have changed over the last 12,000 years - from Stone Age to the Victorian era - and discover how different your daily life is to the lives of other children throughout history.

Every Tuesday 1.30 - 2.15pm & Thursday 10am - 10.45am

Due to social distancing measure we are limited to family groups of a maximum of 4 people, this must include at least one adult.

£5 per child. Adults are free but must book a ticket.

For children aged 5 - 9 years (age ranges are advisory).

These sessions are held outside so please dress accordingly.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Travel Through Time

Prepare for a journey through the history of the British Isles, from the moment the first tribes walked across the land bridge from Europe, to the advent of the digital age. After an introduction to the vast swathe of human history, you will have the opportunity to use our collection to investigate and uncover what life was like here in the Vale during some of the most significant periods of this island's history.

Every Tuesday 2.45 - 3.30pm & Thursday 11.15am - 12noon
